Some of the most popular things to do in Oak Creek Canyon is good ol' childhood fun kind of stuff like boulder hopping across the creek, picking berries, fishing or going for a swim. Oak Creek Canyon is home to Slide Rock State Park, Arizona's most popular natural, outdoor waterslide. The cool temperature of Oak Creek makes swimming in it one of the best ways of cooling off in the summer months. Slide Rock gets quite packed pretty early on all summer days, but fear not! If you can find a parking spot along 89A, there are many swimming holes along 89A including Grasshopper Point. The best way to enjoy the creek, though, is to camp or stay at an Oak Creek cabin as many of the hotels, cabins and B&Bs are situated by some primo swimming spots. Second to Slide Rock in popularity is the gorgeous West Fork Hike. This trail is mostly flat and follows along the water of Oak Creek with several opportunities to walk across the creek in shallow areas. This often shady hike is one of the best ways of intimately experiencing the beauty of not just Oak Creek Canyon, but Sedona's red walls as well.
Oak Creek bring just a few minutes away from Uptown Sedona means that you can still partake in Sedona tours, outdoor activities, shopping, dining, spiritual guidance classes, or whatever other reason why Sedona called out to you. You'll find that most organized tours come out of Sedona, though there are things like yoga, guided meditation and photography classes that are sometimes hosted in Oak Creek Canyon itself. You'll find though that one of the best parts of being in Oak Creek Canyon is the exploration and fun you'll have with the people or person you came with. It's a hidden gem within the walls of a magical place.
PLEASE PACK OUT ALL TRASH INCLUDING ANY YOU MAY FIND DURING YOUR TIME AT OAK CREEK. BEING A STEWARD OF THIS BEAUTIFUL PLACE MUST BE PRACTICED BY ALL PERSONS WHO RECREATE HERE.
